Promises of God

Acts 2:38-39
"And Peter said to them, 'Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.'"

• The promise of the Holy Spirit is given to all who repent and believe.

1 Corinthians 10:13
"No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."

2 Corinthians 1:20
"For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him. That is why it is through Him that we utter our Amen to God for His glory."

• God’s promises are fulfilled in Christ.

2 Corinthians 7:1
"Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God."

• God's promises motivate us to pursue holiness and purity.

Deuteronomy 7:9
"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations."

• God promises His faithfulness and steadfast love to those who follow Him.

Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you."

• God promises never to leave or forsake us.

Exodus 15:26
"Saying, 'If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.'"

• God promises healing and protection to those who obey Him.

Galatians 3:22
"But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe."

• The promise of salvation is given through faith in Jesus Christ.

Galatians 6:9
"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."

Genesis 28:15
"Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you."

Hebrews 10:23
"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."

• God is faithful to His promises.

Hebrews 13:5
"Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'"

Isaiah 26:3
"You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you."

• God promises perfect peace to those who trust Him.

Isaiah 30:21
"And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, 'This is the way, walk in it,' when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left."

Isaiah 40:29
"He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might He increases strength."

Isaiah 41:10
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

• God promises strength and help in times of fear.

Isaiah 41:13
"For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, 'Fear not, I am the one who helps you.'"

• God promises His personal help and presence in times of fear.

Isaiah 43:2
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you."

Isaiah 54:10
"For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you."

Isaiah 61:1
"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound."

• God promises liberation and healing through His anointed one.

James 1:5
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."

• God promises wisdom to those who ask.

James 4:8
"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded."

Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

• God promises a future filled with hope and purpose.

Joel 2:25
"I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten."

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."

• God promises eternal life through Jesus Christ.

John 3:36
"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him."

• Belief in Jesus grants the promise of eternal life.

John 10:10
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."

• Jesus promises an abundant and fulfilling life to His followers.

John 14:27
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."

• God promises His peace to those who believe.

John 15:7
"If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you."

1 John 1:9
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

• God promises forgiveness of sins.

Joshua 1:9
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

• God promises His presence and courage.

1 Kings 8:56
"Blessed be the Lord who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised. Not one word has failed of all his good promise, which he spoke by Moses his servant."

• God's promises are unfailing and bring rest to His people.

Malachi 3:10
"Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need."

Matthew 6:33
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

Matthew 11:28
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

• God promises rest for the weary.

Psalm 23:4
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."

• God promises His comfort and presence in difficult times.

Psalm 32:8
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you."

• God promises guidance and counsel throughout our lives.

Psalm 37:4
"Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart."

• God promises to fulfill the desires of those who delight in Him.

Psalm 84:11
"For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly."

• God promises favor and honor, withholding no good thing from the righteous.

Psalm 91:4
"He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler."

• God promises refuge and protection.

Psalm 121:7-8
"The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore."

Psalm 145:13
"The Lord is faithful in all His words and kind in all His works."

Philippians 4:19
"And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."

• God promises to provide for our needs.

Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths."

• God promises to guide and direct our paths.

1 Peter 5:10
"And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you."

• God promises restoration and strength after periods of suffering.

2 Peter 1:4
"By which He has granted to us His precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire."

• God’s promises help us share in His divine nature.

2 Peter 3:13
"But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells."

• God promises a future new creation where righteousness resides.

Revelation 21:4
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."

Romans 4:21
"Fully convinced that God was able to do what He had promised."

Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Romans 8:28
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."

• God promises to work all things for our good.

Romans 10:9
"If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

• God promises salvation to all who believe.

1 Thessalonians 5:24
"He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it."
